Hypebeast Phenomenon
Is being a 'hypebeast' a pride or an insult?
'Hypebeast', is a term which is so familiar in daily conversation.
Some even call themselves as 'hypebeast'.
Problem is, do you even know the real definition behind the word you use to label yourself?
Quoting from Urban Dictionary, hypebeast means a people who follows a trend to be cool or in style or a person who wears what is hyped up.
Behind the art of wearing those cool street wears, there is something bigger.
No, it's totally not wrong to doll yourself up in a set of a branded wardrobe.
But it will be such a misconception if you have the desire to be a hypebeast by being an obsessive consumer and put your daily necessities aside on your priorities list.
And it will be such a misapprehension if you purchase things just because of the hype not because of the good quality, the philosophy, the art, and how it fits your body.
It will become wrong if you wear it but deep down you don't really like it, or maybe it's not suitable to be worn in some occasions, but you still wear it anyway, just because you think that it's cool.
Maybe the blurred lines between high-end fashion and street fashion is too mystifying.
In spite of all those things I mentioned that wanting to become a 'hypebeast' will make you be consumptive unreasonably and make you underestimate the quality of underexposed brands, i do believe that some people find happiness in the hypebeast life.
And i do believe that there are some people out there adore the street wear so much and they become a participant in ongoing culture of street wear, not just a fanatic consumer that buy things for the sake of amounts of likes they get in Instagram.
To conclude, proclaiming yourself as a hypebeast is not a crime, as long as that label wont cause you any insult because of the inappropriate behavior that follows as a result of attempting to be in trend and to be a 'hypebeast'.
